T. Boone Pickens shelves wind farm plan

http://www.cnn.com/2009/TECH/07/08/pickens.wind.farm/index.html

I never thought he was really going to do it. His map of where he wanted to put wind turbines included major drinking water aquafiers and reports claimed that the contracts he wanted people to sign didn't just give him the wind rights, but included all water rights. This was a big ploy to own all the drinking water in the hot hot south.

wow! was just talking about that last night to someone. thanks for posting it

Water rights in Texas are a bit complex (see, for example, Texas Water Rights Law: East Meets West (pdf) and About Water Availability and Water Rights Permitting in Texas (html - state site) ). Only surface water appears subject to limitation and regulation. However, he would control some of the water available for irrigation. Whether we use oil, wind, or biofuel, he'll get a cut of the cash flow if the reports of the contracts are correct.

On the other hand, he is right that there just isn't a good way yet to get power from west texas to anywhere else. I drove through there on I-10 earlier this week and saw some of the wind farms, but there's nothing else out there. It's hundreds of miles to the nearest large energy market.

Gosh maybe he realize the government isn't gonna pay for those power lines. I wonder if he regrets funding the whole MonicaGate bullshit now!

sad face

did he?

coz, if i'm remember the correct funny named old white country bumpkin bazillionaire from the daily show, he sounded awesome

but, mebbe there's more than one

Gosh maybe he realize the government isn't gonna pay for those power lines. I wonder if he regrets funding the whole SwiftBoat attack bullshit now!
